Our objective

"To develop concepts, innovations, and tools applicable to a wide range of control room settings, operating in a safety-critical environment, and on a 24/7 basis."

Leveraged by an intense industry-academia cooperation, the On Track Lab will aim to:

1. Improve and optimize Control Room Management, both in real-time as in the planning phase.

2. Introduce and develop a new concept: Control Room Analytics (e.g., historical, predictive, and prescriptive).

3. Perform control room related research, leading to novel analytics for transportation networks and operations.

4. Implement innovative control room management solutions, and obtain real-world feedback.

5. Disseminate and showcase its results through scientific publications, workshops, and other appropriate means.

The concepts, innovations, and tools developed by the Lab will be pioneered for Belgian railway traffic control centres, but remain applicable to a wide range of control room settings, operating in a safety-critical environment, and on a 24/7 basis.
